New Update to HTTP - HTTP/2
After adopting HTTP 1.1 in 1999 there is a largest update is coming HTTP/2 after 16 years. This huge update has been finalized and now they are moving towards to standardization.
This new standard brings a number of features which are going to serve in long run. It brings lot of benefits in Web Core technologies such as longer lived connectivity, faster page loads, more items will arrive sooner and server push. One of the important changes is that HTTP request are cheaper to make with HTTP/2. Previously web communities are suggested to minimize the HTTP request to their pages but HTTP/2 comes with the multiplex feature which allows lots of requests to deliver at same time so that page load will not be blocked.
HTTP/2 update keeps the API intact as in HTTP 1.1 but provide new features to adopt by the developers. This update uses fewer connection that will lower the loads on server and network.
The new HTTP standard was based on Google’s SPDY protocol, which is used today by some technologies to manipulate traffic which helps improve latency and security, delivering faster page load times. Google announced just a few days ago that it plans to switch fully to HTTP/2 in Chrome.
This update is consider as largest update in HTTP history. We love to see that update ASAP and also see how easily it gets gelled with the existing world.
